Australia’s leading Plastic Neutral Certification

Inspiring organisations to play their part in cleaning up our planet

Let’s take a stand

350 million tonnes of plastic is produced each year, of which only 9% is recycled. The equivalent of 1 garbage truck full of plastic enters our oceans every minute.

It’s time for change.

Imagine being part of the solution

91% of our plastic waste ends up in landfill or flushes into our environment.

Becoming Plastic Neutral is a commitment to measure, reduce, and offset your plastic use. For every kilogram of plastic used by an organisation, one kilogram is collected or recycled on their behalf that wouldn’t otherwise be.* Endorsed by the International Recycling Group

*Note: Companies who uses post-consumer recycled plastic in their products will receive a discount on the number of plastic offsets needing to be purchased to neutralise their plastic footprint. This incentivises and recognises the importance of using recycled content to drive a circular economy.

The Plastic Problem

More than 350 million tonnes of plastic is produced each year – but 91% of plastic waste ends up in landfill or the environment. About 10 million tonnes of plastic makes its way into our oceans each year, killing marine life and devastating ecosystems.

Plastic is wildly popular for good reason. On the upside, it is durable, versatile, low-cost and preserves food and cosmetics. It allows companies to meet consumer health and safety regulations.

But plastic lasts in the environment for more than 350 years. It is not routinely recycled. Our culture of convenience has reduced its useful lifespan to a few minutes. What started as a revolutionary innovation with life changing applications, is causing a significant environmental crisis.

Plastic alternatives are difficult to source and substitutes are often lower quality, more expensive, and have a higher carbon footprint. But Waste Revolution can help reduce your plastic impact.

Our Solution

Our Solution

Inspired by carbon neutral certifications, we have created Australia’s leading Plastic Neutral Certification.

Being certified Plastic Neutral is a guarantee that for every kilogram of plastic used by an organisation, one kilogram is collected or recycled that wouldn’t otherwise be. It tells the world you are taking full accountability for your plastic footprint, by collecting or recycling an equivalent amount of plastic from our environment.

As part of the certification process we provide our clients with a Plastic Action Plan, to help identify opportunities to minimise plastic use in products or operations.

Waste Revolution’s Plastic Neutral Certification is an impactful and sustainable way for brands to take action and clean up our planet, while also reducing their own plastic use internally.

Your Impact

The plastic offsets fund activities carried out by our trusted Impact Partners – socially focused waste management companies that are responsible for collecting or recycling plastic.

To be eligible, projects need to be measurable, transparent and there must be ‘additionality’ – the principle that the plastic that is collected or recycled is additional to what would have otherwise occurred. The funded project must also have a strong and clear social or community benefit associated with it.

Your plastic offsets help fund projects that stimulate a circular economy to help us solve this problem for good.

The price of each Plastic Offset is $2.25 AUD per kg of plastic, which is tax deductible.

BlazeAid

Once Plastic Forests has manufactured the recycled plastic posts, they are donated to BlazeAid, an Australian charity whose thousands of volunteers help farmers recover from bushfires and other natural disasters. To date, BlazeAid have rebuilt over 400km of fence line in regional Australia through their network of over 1,000 volunteers.

Project Impact:

– Increasing the recycling rate by creating demand for recycled plastic posts

– Reducing the need for timber or steel posts which have a higher carbon footprint

– Providing support for vulnerable farmers

– Provides profound social and environmental benefits to struggling rural communities

– Offsets are tax deductible

Helping you go Plastic Neutral

Plastic Forests

Plastic Forests is an innovative Australian recycler who specialise in recycling soft/flexible plastic packaging into sustainable products (this type of plastic is difficult to recycle and there are limited end markets so the majority of this waste goes to landfill).

The money raised from plastic offsets will fund the manufacturing of 100% recycled plastic posts. These posts are then donated to fire affected farmers to help rebuild their properties.
